tHoS3 2 MiLeS ...

The Sun City “Jodhpur” blazing in all its attire awaiting and soliciting my presence was finally blessed ;-) Well for me, it was just a refreshment tour of 2 days before RTU exams, but for some, it was “THE INFOSYS” the first campus interview.

The written test following the presentation began a little late. After those “70 minutes” we headed back to the hotel. Though Paper was easy to crack, I had no expectations. Soon the thunder hit hard. The first list was on notice boards. I could see the tension piling on calm faces. All my friends rushed to the MBM College. But I had a more promising reason to stay back. I was going to meet my school friend after 3 long years.

I got a call. A world definitely turned upside down. Dumbstruck, I could only say “how’s that possible?” My name was on the list. I cleared the entrance test.

Then the quest began. All of sudden everything was missing – shoes, folder and my common sense. I rushed out of the hotel and I found my friend standing outside. I felt relieved. Both of us hopped on the scooty. I had once read

“It's impossible to plan your day and your life as accidents will happen, you'll overhear things, bump into people, and take unexpected turns.”

I didn’t have the slightest idea that these words were gonna summarize everything.

We didn’t even travel a km and the scooty stopped. So I decided to hire a taxi. Meanwhile, I got another call saying “report in 5 minutes”. No taxi driver was ready to go. Finally I found one with an old man. Then I realized I had only Rs. 500/- note with me. I called my friend again. Those 10 Rs notes never looked so crucial. I was comforted but not for a long time. Taxi driver had some hearing problem and he didn’t even know the way to the college. I could only shout “arey uncle kisi aur se rasta pooch lo” but in vain!!!

Somehow I landed and in my usual wild ways crashed (due to iron bars) as well. My legging was tattered, knees bled and hands were bruised. I arranged a safety pin and fixed it. I had an adrenalin rush. For the second time in my life I was very nervous. I was all blank. “Fortunately” I found a friend, he boosted my confidence. I washed and cleaned my hands and headed. I was notified that my application was incomplete .I finished it and then realized my phone was missing. Troubles apart, I was summoned. I flushed out everything from my mind and said to myself “there is nothing worse that can happen after this”

My confidence was back. Interview went really good. It was all over and I had tears in my eyes. Everything flashed back. I didn’t know what these drops were for: happiness, content, insecurity, anger, frustration. “Explanation of an emotion ain’t that easy!!!”

Results were announced after a while, but I was all blank again.

Though, I was selected.

Mockin’z melody:

I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me
I remembered each flash as time began to blur
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve”
